Youth Mental Health First Aid sessions planned

Two free Youth Mental Health First Aid training classes are planned in the mid-valley.

The eight-hour course trains parents, school staff, and other adults who interact with adolescents on a regular basis.

Sessions will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.May 15 at the Gates Rural Fire District and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.June 5 at the Lebanon Boys & Girls Club.

Participants will learn about a five-step action plan to help adolescents in both crisis and noncrisis situations; gain insight and basic knowledge into common mental health and addiction challenges; learn about connections to appropriate mental health and addiction services and support; strengthen skills and abilities on how to identify and reach out to adolescents in distress and crisis.
