Suicidal man taken into protective custody following Monday standoff in Four Corners

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle - 11/28/2017

An armed man who was threatening suicide was taken into protective custody after a standoff with law enforcement in Four Corners on Monday afternoon.

According to the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to an address near Zoot Enterprise Lane and Zoot Way at 3 p.m. Monday. A 20-year-old man was threatening suicide and was armed with a hunting rifle.

Deputies were concerned for the safety of the public, especially school children riding home on the bus, so several blocks were closed in the area. And a telephone notification system was used to advise people in the area of the situation.

Negotiators from the sheriff’s office and the Bozeman Police Department made contact with the man, and at about 5 p.m., he was taken into protective custody without injury. He will be evaluated by mental health professionals.
