1. What do you think Dr. King would think about the state of the world today?

He strove for equality and eliminating racism; I think he would recognize the progress America has made in that respect, but still continue striving. While our media mostly focuses on the extreme aspects, as racism and inequality does still exist, we tend to overlook the progress that has been made. We have to build on the good aspects to truly outshine and eliminate the negative. I specifically believe Dr. King's focus in current times would be to build our poorer communities, fight against broken homes, drug abuse and street violence, and ensure everyone was indeed getting that equal chance to thrive and succeed.

2. What advice do you wish you could have given your younger self?

Embrace who you are; like yourself. Don't try to be something you're not.

3. Who do you admire most, and why?

Jesus Christ. When I was younger, it was likely an artist, a millionaire or athlete. But as I've gotten a bit older I feel I've developed a better grasp on the concept of faith; it's coming more natural to me. And as I've engaged in reading the Bible and attending studies, I'm learning about Jesus' philosophy of charity, caring for others, tolerance, patience and many more. It's just a better way to live, in my opinion.

4. How are you helping to make D r. King's dream - of a world where people are judged not by the color of their skin, but by their character - come true?

I just try to live the life I want to live, and not be judged by stereotypes. I grew up out of poverty, joined the military, gained a good education, work fulfilling jobs and try to help out the community. I'm not perfect in any way at all, but I try to set a positive example.
