LSI receives $10,000 grant to support services in Black Hawk County

Nov. 28—WATERLOO — Lutheran Services in Iowa has received $10,000 from the Pauline Barrett Charitable Foundation to support Therapy and Behavioral Health Intervention Services in Black Hawk County.

The funding will support the delivery of mental health services to more than 110 Black Hawk County youth and individuals in need of mental health services. LSI has been providing mental health serves in Black Hawk County for more than 25 years. The programs provide wrap-around care for children as well as their families who are struggling with a serious behavioral or emotional diagnosis.

In 2022, LSI provided 327 intervention sessions to 23 Black Hawk County children.

An additional component, in combination with these services, includes therapeutic work with a licensed professional. LSI's therapy services are offered to both children and adults in need of support. In 2022, LSI provided 669 therapy sessions to 55 Black Hawk County youth and adults. LSI is also one of Iowa's largest human services agencies and impacts thousands of Iowans annually through child abuse prevention, services for families and youth in crisis, services for people with disabilities, and immigrant and refugee services.
